Hoffman La Roche, the producer of Accutane ignored one of it’s own doctor’s counsel. The company doctor suggested that people who take the Acne medication be monitored for signs of depression and that a warning should be included in the drug’s label.

Hoffman La Roche is being accused in a federal court of not including a warning because of sales and/or possible lawsuits.

Accutane has yet to be linked to depression or other mental illnesses in any official way. Hoffman La Roche stands by their stance that the drug is effective when it is taken appropriately.

There have been claims that the firm’s internal investigation showed that some patients who were prescribed Accutane probably suffered depression and other mental illnesses as a result of taking the drug.
